Nepal (Fulbright S&T grantee 2010)
Sichu Shrestha is a Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. The focus of her research is on waste water treatment processes involving anaerobic treatment, and later on by constructed wetlands. She plans to look at low cost, decentralized treatment facilities and will investigate treatment efficiency regarding various constituents of waste water. Subsequently, this will help develop treatment facilities for areas in which it is impossible to provide centralized treatment facilities. A native of Nepal, she has received both an undergraduate and a Master’s degree from the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus. She was a faculty member at an engineering institution and was also involved with additional institutions in the capacity of consultant, engineer and a researcher.
Sichu enjoys nature and exploring places. She plans to become involved with conservation and activities related to the preservation of natural resources. She also looks forward to becoming involved with animal welfare programs, because she loves animals.
