Samaher Fageiry is currently a doctoral student studying Neurobiology and Behavior at Columbia University. She is very interested in the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which axons sense cues in their surroundings and put them together to define a complex yet precise pathway towards their appropriate target. It is hoped that a better understanding of the intrinsic and environmental factors which underpin neuronal growth during development will assist in the exploration of the role these mechanisms have in promoting a more robust regenerative response after nerve injury.
Samaher is from the United Kingdom and studied Medicine at King’s College London and Oxford University. During the course of her Ph.D. studies, she hopes to become involved in the Neuroscience Outreach Program which brings Neuroscience into the classrooms of elementary and middle school students.
