Turkey (Fulbright S&T grantee 2010)
Sahra Uygun is pursuing her Ph.D. in Plant Genetics at Michigan State University with the support of the International Fulbright Science & Technology Award. Her research focuses on understanding the pathways and the regulation of plant metabolism.
Sahra is from Istanbul, Turkey. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Her Master’s thesis focused on the development of identification methods for genetically modified organisms. Outside the lab, Sahra enjoys many kinds of sports and loves learning new languages and cultures. Sahra likes to travel and visit new places. She looks forward to taking advantage of her time in the United States and plans to explore the country.
