Ronan McGovern is enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As an International Fulbright Science & Technology Fellow, he is currently researching the air-humidification-dehumidification method of desalination, focusing on the performance of thermo-compressors for this purpose.
A native of the Republic of Ireland, Ronan received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin, during which he spent a year studying in Switzerland at the Ecole Fédérale Polytechnique de Lausanne. Ronan has experience working on the thermodynamic optimization of solar thermal facilities, the structural design of particle detectors (CERN), and energy conservation in road transport.
Ronan’s primary languages are Irish, English, French and German. His extra-curricular interests include Irish sports such as hurling and Gaelic football, politics and journalism, songwriting and musical performance, and theatre and comedy.
