John McCoy is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He studies decision making, and especially the models that people use to make decisions. His work is aimed both at understanding human decision making, especially through work in behavioral economics, and at improving the decision making of artificial intelligence systems.
John is a South African recipient of the International Fulbright Science & Technology Award. Prior to commencing his studies at MIT, he received undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Mathematics and Cognitive Science from the Universities of Natal and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
