Ernest Chivero is a Fulbright Science & Technology Fellow at the University of Iowa where he focuses on Molecular and Cellular Biology. He plans to carry out research in virology focusing on host-virus interactions involved in HIV infections. He hopes that exploring intrinsic host factors that control or exacerbate virus infection will provide new insights for future therapeutics that aim at viral eradication.
Ernest is a native of Zimbabwe. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Zimbabwe. He went on to complete a Master’s degree in Biotechnology at the same institution. He has experience in the production of drug actives from microbial processes. After working for six years as a scientist at the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC), Zimbabwe’s Technology Centre, Ernest pursued MBA studies to enrich his administration skills. He is also a skilled patent drafter and holds a Master’s in Intellectual Property from Africa University and the World Intellectual Property Organization Academy.
