Catalin-Stefan Tiseanu

profilepicCatalin-Stefan_TiseanuWith the support of the 2011 International Fulbright Science & Technology Award, Catalin-Stefan Tiseanu is a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at the University of Maryland, College Park. He is carrying out research in the area of Theoretical Computer Science, specifically on algorithms and data structures. This research has a diverse range of applications such as network design and auction systems.

Catalin is a native of Romania, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Bucharest. During high school, Catalin participated in several international programming contests such as Google Code Jam and the USA Invitational Computing Olympiad (USAICO). While at the University of Bucharest, he completed internships with Google and Facebook in California, as well as with IMB Research in Zurich, Switzerland. He has co-authored several papers regarding computational complexity and algorithms on strings.
