Ahmed Khurshid is working toward his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is conducting research on monitoring and fault-analysis in large networks. One of his research goals is to develop a sound monitoring and debugging framework for Internet Service Provider (ISP) networks so that fault detection and repairs can be done with less human intervention. Ahmed believes the results from his research will make future network devices self-organizing and more fault-tolerant.
After completing his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Ahmed immediately joined his department as a faculty member after graduation. He received his Master of Science degree from the same department. He has always had an interest in programming and software engineering, and during his final undergraduate year, became increasingly facinated with new approaches and concepts within the field of internet technologies . As an International Science & Technology Fellow, he has been able to pursue his dream of furthering his knowledge of computer networks by gaining admission to a Ph.D. program.
In the future, Ahmed plans to return to home and collaborate closely with the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Bangladesh. Ahmed strongly believes that with the proper application of ICT in different sectors, Bangladesh will be able to more effectively address ongoing challenges and hopes to be able to contribute to this endeavor.
