Dr. Charles de Bourcy just got his first-author paper published in Science Immunology! He did the research while still being a PhD student at Stanford. We wish him many more such achievements in the future!
In brief, the paper reveals the immune profile of systemic sclerosis and its response to B cell depletion. Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disorder of the connective tissue in which the body’s immune system attacks the body and damages the skin, joints, and internal organs (especially the esophagus, lower GI tract, lungs, heart, and kidneys).
“Our findings reveal humoral immune signatures of SSc-PAH and uncover determinism in the effects of B cell depletion on the antibody repertoire.” Read more about it here: http://immunology.sciencemag.org/content/2/15/eaan8289
